SIGiST Event – The Power of Numbers – July 22nd 2015

July 22, 2015 @ 17:30 - 19:00

Abstract:

Applying statistical and mathematical procedures to answer common (and sometimes not so common) testing questions

Software testing is often seen as messy and answering seemingly simple questions such as “how much will it cost?” or “how long will it take?” is surprisingly difficult. And I am not even talking about the more philosophical questions such as “does compliance with a process add value?” or “what is the impact of the quality of requirements on testing?”

I will explore the answers to these and other question by applying mathematical methods to organisational data collected over the last couple of years..

About the Presenter(s)

Mike Snyman is a founding member of the SASTQB and past president and secretary of the Special Interest Group in Software Testing of the Computer Society of South Africa, Gauteng chapter. He is a member of the ISTQB process working party and currently manages a test automation team at a large financial institution.

Mike has 18 years of experience, which includes technical and managerial positions in large test teams, test process definitions and implementation, and test automation.

Mike’s focus is on software testing in large financial institutions and his involvement in most areas of software testing allows for a detailed understanding of contemporary testing issues and challenges. Mike has been a track speaker at various testing conferences and seminars in South Africa, Australia and Europe.
