Human Capital Strategy to Gain Competitive Advantage

May 22, 2014 @ 08:00 - 13:00

Workshop 2014 Banner
The world is becoming far more competitive and volatile than ever before.  Organisations are being forced to seek to gain competitive advantage whenever and wherever possible.  As traditional sources such as capital, product, pricing or location become less significant as a basis for competitive advantage, firms are turning to more innovative sources. Two of these are:• The management of Human Capital,
• The innovative use of Information Technology.A firm’s Human Capital is the result of a strategically aligned and managed Workforce Architecture – which includes:• the HR function,
• the broader HR system, policies and procedures as implemented by line managers,
• the innovative use of Information Technology that provides the information, and
• the workforce. As the management of Human Capital is seen increasingly in terms of competitive advantage, the questions that arise are:• What must we do differently to gain this advantage?
• Do different types of organisation practice Human Capital Management for competitive advantage differently?
• How do we know what practices are contributing to, and which are detracting from, competitive advantage?
• How do we know that we are on track?
