Michael Cowen is the Global CEO and co-founder of Teraflow.ai, a Data and Machine Learning (ML) Engineering business that has seen explosive growth in ‘Making AI Work’.
Teraflow.ai helps its clients capitalise on the disruptive power of AI. This is done by fixing the messy data problem (data engineering), optimising the algorithms ML Engineering), setting up the algorithms’ ability to compute (GCP and AWS Cloud), and exposing the models via APIs and UX front ends (software engineering).
He has previously held executive positions at Deloitte Digital as a Digital Advisory Director, at Mindshare Digital as a Digital Partner, and he boasts the achievement of being the founder of five start-ups, the most recent of which is Teraflow.ai.
His stance to think differently about the status quo, Michael thrives on a simpler approach, especially in terms of solving complex business problems that businesses may face. His career has been defined by doing the projects that no one else wants to do, and by building systems and solutions that redefine how value is created. With technology redefining the legacy of business models and the ways of working, Michael has found his happy place at the intersection of technology, culture, and how we create value that redefines one’s ability to change and grow.
He lives by the mantra that ‘Profits Follow People’. His management approach has always been built around people and enabling them to make an impact in the world. By seeing human potential differently, Michael scales performance by building meaning and purpose in the micro-moments.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Econ & B.Econ) from Wits University, and a diploma from both IMM and UCT’s Graduate School of Business. He is happily married, has two teenage boys, and lives in Johannesburg.
