I am extremely proud of Rabelani Dagada, who is one of the Institute’s past presidents and has recently been appointed as member of the mayoral committee for Finance in the City of Johannesburg.

Dagada is responsible for R60 billion of the annual budget and will be evaluating ICT related projects to determine how they can be supported financially.

In his interview with ITWEB, Dagada spoke briefly about the Tshimologong Precinct which is turning Braamfontein into an ICT hub. I had the privilege of attending the Tshimologong Precinct launch last week and it is absolutely amazing to see the transformation of what was once a nightclub into a bustling skills and innovation hub.

Braamfontein is the ideal location because of its close proximity to two major universities. This is also most certainly going to breathe new life into the city of Johannesburg.

IITPSA is one of the founding partners of the Precinct.  However, more sponsorships and donations are required in order to finish the project.

The Institute wishes Professor Rabelani Dagada the best of luck in his new role and we look forward to seeing the advancement of ICT in Johannesburg.
