Technology has always been a passion of mine; I am grateful that I get to ignite this passion daily. I view technology as an art and technology professionals’ artists.
I started off my career in deep technical roles in the banking and capital markets industries. Thereafter I joined one of the largest multinational drink and brewing company, I fulfilled multiple roles during my tenure including leading the solution delivery capabilities and leading transformational programmes across multiple geographies. I joined a global leader in consulting as a leader in their IT advisory discipline focusing on IT strategy, IT architecture and major programme transformations across clients/organisations across Africa.
My next journey was to a leading insurer where I fulfilled various roles including leading the solution delivery capability and then finally as the Head of IT across the business value chain where I lead various disciplines including Digital, RPA, Agile delivery office, development, data engineering, etc.
This journey has led me to my most exciting opportunity with Sanlam Corporate, where I am the CIO for the division. Key has been developing an IT strategy aligned to the business, embedding business agility with DevOps and automation, modernising the application eco-system and leading the cluster to create new paths in response to the pandemic.
Through out my career there have been several highlights, the ones that stand out for me are the ones that created tangible business value and where the people were motivated, empowered, up-skilled and uplifted.
It is key to never stop but to accelerate the learning journey. I have completed a BSc in Computer Science and Information Technology, a Postgraduate in organisational leadership and a MBA. To ensure domain skills are relevant I have and continue to certify in multiple disciplines including COBIT, SAFe, Prince2, ITIL and various development and cloud capabilities.
