There is lot of focus on skills (or lack thereof) in the country right now – and justifiably so. In the world of ICT we know that many skills are in short supply, especially those for the ‘newer’ technologies, such as Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Data Science, to name only a few.
IITPSA has collaborated with the JCSE at Wits University to conduct the 2018 JCSE – IITPSA Skills Survey. This report will be launched on 16 Oct 2018.
Also related to ICT skills are the IT Olympiads, and the IT Programming Olympiad for 2018 closed off with its Awards Dinner on 01 October 2018 at the Standard Bank Auditorium in Rosebank. You can read the separate article about this here.
Let us also not forget that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Life-long learning are the cornerstones of any profession, and we, as ICT Professionals owe it to ourselves, our companies and clients, and our country, to continue to develop our skills and knowledge for the good of all.
