Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa is pleased to announce that it has achieved Professional Body recognition by the South African Qualifications Authority.
During its September 2012 Board meeting, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) awarded Professional Body recognition to Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) and has registered its professional designation (PMIITPSA) on the NQF. This recognition and registration are awarded in terms of a mandate that SAQA has from the National Qualifications Framework Act (Act 67 of 2008) to recognise professional bodies and register the professional designations of bodies who apply to SAQA and who meet the policy and criteria set.
IITPSA President, Rabelani Dagada, commented: “this is a great achievement indeed for the IITPSA, being the attainment of yet another important goal which is directly aligned with the IITPSA’s overall objective of promoting professionalism in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in South Africa”.
Tony Parry, CEO of the IITPSA, noted that “the registration of the PMIITPSA (Professional Member of Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa ) designation ensures that professional members of the Institute are recognised for the critical ICT role that they fulfil in organisations and institutions throughout the South African economy”.

Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) has represented the interests of practitioners in the information technology field for more than 50 years. It has a paid-up membership exceeding 2 000 people, more than half of whom are black. IITPSA is a member of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), is represented at many official forums relevant to the ICT sector and has a seat on the Board of the MICT SETA.
