ITPSA teachers’ workshops on cyber risk, IT careers, and teaching IT and coding

The Eastern Cape Chapter of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) invites all primary and high school teachers to an afternoon of topical online workshops around cyber risk, and teaching CAT and IT.

To be staged on 21 July, the free teachers’ workshops will include two sessions:

16:00 – 17:00: Session 1
Brush up on online risks and IT opportunities for learners

This session is designed for all primary and high school teachers, focusing on cyber bullying in schools, with an introduction to cyber security and what all teachers should know, and an overview of the IT career opportunities available to learners.

17:10 – 18:30: Session 2
Learn how to overcome challenges in teaching IT and CAT, and see how coding is being taught without computers

This session is for CAT and IT teachers, and will explore the challenges of teaching IT and CAT, followed by a discussion on unplugged coding led by Prof. Jean Greyling, whose Tangible Africa project is introducing learners to coding without the use of computers. Teachers will also discover a programming board game, followed by lucky draws.

Host: Prof Lynn Futcher, IITPSA Eastern Cape Chapter Chair. Register here:
