Raising Community Awareness on Cybersecurity – Cyber Sundays for Communities

This Webinar forms part of the IFIP 60 years celebration that is taking place internationally. It is organised by the Technical Committee 9 RSA national representative and co-hosted by the RSA national member society to IFIP, the IITPSA. In addition to the celebration, this webinar aims to raise awareness at community and societal levels on cybersecurity and cyber crimes. It further aims to contribute to making community members and individuals safer and more secure cyber citizens.

Topics include Cybersecurity Culture; Cryptocurrencies as facilitators of cybercrime towards communities and the general public and Cybersecurity obligations for individuals, families, the nation and the world.

Presenters:

Dr Jackie Phahlamohlaka, Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) and the current national RSA representative in IFIP General assembly. He is also the current Chairman of the South African National Committee for the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and he represents South Africa on Technical Committee 9 (TC9) (ICT and Society) of IFIP.

Prof Rossouw von Solms, Emeritus Professor and ex-Director of the Centre for Research in Information and Cyber Security (CRICS) at the Nelson Mandela University.

Sthembile Mthethwa, senior researcher with a focus on distributed ledger technology (DLT)/blockchain, information security, cybersecurity and internet of things (IoT). She holds a MSc (Computer Science) from University of Fort Hare (2017). She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and is currently working within the Information and Cybersecurity Centre (ICSC) at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Innocentia Zama Dlamini, who leads the Information Systems and Technology (IST) department at the Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) in Durban, South Africa. She is responsible for provincial (KwaZulu Natal) IT research, infrastructure, emerging technologies, knowledge management, and information security.
