Abstract

Testing as a profession is under threat. A lot of this has do with statement that “Quality is everyone’s responsibility” and “developers must also do testing”. Does the IT community think that testers are no longer required? There is also a lot of talk about “T shaped” resources and the move of testers to be more technical and being able to fulfil any role. Will the essence of a tester as the custodian of quality be lost?
These and many more questions will be discussed and debated in an open session.

Pieter Scheepers has been in the Financial Industry for just over 17 years. He has spent the last 10 years in IT with the last 7 years being focused on Quality Assurance. His tenure at Standard Bank included managing the SAP Core Banking replacement journey. Recently Pieter has focused on R&D in the Quality Assurance space”.
