Jo-Ann Johnston will talk on the Western Cape Broadband Strategic Framework and provide an update on the progress made with its implementation. Moreover, she will discuss some of the opportunities the Western Cape Broadband Initiative may open up for businesses and inputs from participants at the IITPSA seminar will be used to help frame the direction that the Province will take with respect to developing industry niches.
About The Speaker:
Ms Jo-Ann Johnston is a specialist in the field of industry development, and investment and export promotion. She has worked for
- the Western Cape’s Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Wesgro;
- Trade and Investment South Africa (TISA), a Division of the National Department of Trade and Industry where she was General Manager: Operations, responsible for the development and implementation of Industry Development and Investment Promotion strategies;
- Minister (Economic) at the South African High Commission in London;
- the Western Cape Government where she is Chief Director: Trade and Sector Development at the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. She is currently responsible for the Cape Catalyst initiative, which involves a set of infrastructure-orientated projects aimed at improving economic competitiveness as well as the Provincial Skills Forum, which is aimed at the co-ordination and facilitation of stakeholder-driven skills development interventions.
