Title: How to Invent – the Core of Breakthrough Innovation
–
A key part of innovation is how to invent. Innovation occurs when an invention is brought into valued use. As fortune would have it, there are already existing tried-and-tested systematic ways to invent improvements, breakthroughs and even new products, services, and business models.
–
Incremental innovation is the most commonly used improvement approach used today by organisations. This approach is part of continuous improvement. The approach takes existing knowledge within an area in the same industry, and applies this knowledge to gain improvement. However there are still better innovation methods that can be taught. Systematic innovation uses higher-value innovation approaches using insights from a formal and highly reliable BIG data base. BIG Insights are not to be confused with BIG Data.
–
Solving inventive problems systematically can be learned or taught. The invention process can be taught as specific steps and activities. Continued use of these steps and activities for different invention or problem-solving opportunities, grows one’s mental and practical ability to innovate. This ensures that one’s innovation skills improve significantly. Around the globe, organisations which train workers in systematic innovation approaches increase the number, quality, and value of innovations within their industries.
–
Wayne will take invention examples to teach a sample of invention principles, as well as talk about how the future of products and services can be accurately predicted, albeit not with the exact timing. Come prepared with your own problem to solve or invention idea. Progress your own problem solution or invention as Wayne leads you through some of the steps and shows you their power.
–
The presentation will be of interest to:
–
- Individuals or organisations who practise invention or innovation, or who would like to know more about the topic
- Those who are dissatisfied with products, services, processes, business models, and tough problems and who wish to aim at breakthrough improvements, while not forgetting the much easier, continual incremental improvements
- Start-ups and SMME’s wishing to gain competitive advantage, and any large organisations who still believe there might still be some very useful things that they haven’t learned yet
- Those using big data for emerging trends
