Women in IT: Dynamic Panel Discussion on Start-Ups– An IITPSA Western Cape Chapter Event

August 22, 2019 @ 17:30 - 20:30

Women in the IT workplace often feel vulnerable. You might ask yourself “What will happen if I lose my job?” or “Will I still be able to do this job when I return to work after a having a family, or will my skills be redundant?”, even “I hate this job, but am uncertain about finding another job”.

Maybe starting a business is the answer. What does it take to launch a start-up? If being an entrepreneur is not for you, maybe you want to be a “solopreneur”, and work for yourself.

The panellists will consider the following questions, sharing their own experiences:

  • How to use your idea to launch a business.
  • Where can I find start-up funding, and what pitfalls should I watch out for? What do I need to know to make a successful pitch?
  • Should I start a business or operate as a solopreneur?
  • Online businesses often require fewer resources to launch, but what must I consider when deciding to go online or not?
  • I’m not thinking of leaving my job right now, but what can I do to widen my horizons to make sure that if things change, I am capable of going it alone?
