Tony Parry, CEO of the Institute of IT Professionals South Africa, visited the main Campus of the University of Pretoria on 14 September 2016 and addressed two classes of second year Computer Science Students on the importance of professionalism in ICTs and of acting professionally in the work place. Tony noted that ‘professionalism’ does not only apply to medicine, law and engineering, but also to information and communications technology (ICT), amongst others. Anyone who wishes to be recognised as a professional needs to act with integrity, behave ethically, and bring all their talent, knowledge and skills to bear on the work at hand.

Commenting on LinkedIn on the visit, Prof. Stefan Gruner, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Pretoria, noted: “… [this] was an important and memorable lecture of high practical relevance”.
