The National Department of Human Settlements Audit Committee has a position of an Audit Committee member. Applications are therefore invited from interested persons to serve in the Department’s Audit Committee.

The Mandate of the Department of Human Settlements (DoHS) is set out in the Housing Act, No 107 of 1997.The Department of Human Settlements (DoHS) has an Audit Committee established in accordance with the section 76 and 77 of the Public Finance Management Act, Act No1 of 1999,as amended.

The DoHS has vacancy for an Audit Committee member with Information Technology expertise and therefore would like to invite suitably qualified person to serve on its Audit Committee.

REQUIREMENTS:

Audit Committee Member:
A relevant three year tertiary or equivalent qualification in Information Technology. A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage. The applicant must have extensive expertise in ICT governance, strategy & its implementation and ICT investment and monitoring the management and mitigation of ICT risks. Knowledge and understanding of King III Report on Corporate Governance. Well-developed business acumen and leadership skills. A demonstrated track record of diligence and integrity. Knowledge and understanding of legislation/policies of Government. Knowledge and understanding of the roles and accountabilities of the different governance structures within an organization. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Knowledge and understanding of Human Settlements environment will be added be advantage.

DUTIES: The Audit Committee is an oversight body which operates and discharges its duties  according to section 3.1.10 of the Treasury Regulation .The Audit Committee serves as an advisory committee in assisting the Department of Human Settlement in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities on matters relating to financial controls, risk management and governance .Duties will include assisting the Accounting Officer in effective discharge of his/her Responsibilities.

Remuneration: The appointed member will be remunerated according to the SAICA rates which approved by the Minister. The member will be appointed for a period of 3 years, with a renewal option subject to performance. The members will be required to sign a contract with the Department.
