Afternoon @ SIGiST August 22nd 2018

August 22, 2018 @ 17:00 - 19:00

Join us for another SIGiST Double Bill!

Abstract 1 – “You need to lift testing!”: A testers ascension to quality engineer

Natasha Anderson shares her journey of re-invention as she transitioned her career from one built on the principles of waterfall to one of agility.

Speaker

Natasha Anderson is a dreamer and an optimist. Bitten by the testing ‘bug’ around 15 years ago, this once aspiring software engineer navigated her career into the then little known waters of software testing. Guided by her compulsion to leave everything she touches a little better than she found it and her love to break things apart just to understand how it works, Natasha considers herself lucky to do what she loves with total creative freedom and all the while, getting paid to do it.

In her current role as Practice Lead, Natasha enables DevOps practices with a QE lens on. Using modern technology and practices, her goal to achieve Continuous Testing is now well in hand and her Next, includes leveraging AI, Big Data and the creative genius of her team to realise intelligent testing a common practice.

Abstract 2 – Shifting SQA left and right

Continuous integration is key for shifting SQA left. The aim is to release to our customers as quickly and as cost effectively as possible and, in turn, ensure a quality product is delivered. The new generation methodologies like DevOps and Agile are at the forefront of making sure that this is achieved successfully.

While shifting SQA left is vital and important, shifting right is as important, as it involves the Business and users. Continuous feedback from users will give everyone a business and user’s perspective on how the final product should look and ensure that the customer experience is realized.
