What you get out of the IITPSA depends on what you put into it. The IITPSA relies largely on the efforts of its volunteers (members) throughout the country.
The Institute offers a channel through which members can help solve the social and technical problems of computing. Furthermore, increasingly government looks to the Institute for advice on computing matters and this input can only come from individual members.
Professional Recognition: By using the respected letters “MIITPSA” (Member) or “PMIITPSA” (Professional Member) after one’s name, members are identified as belonging to a professional body.
Career Advancement: Increasingly companies recognise IITPSA membership for their ICT staff as a prerequisite for promotion and career advancement.
Networking: Seminars, workshops and other events provide opportunities for networking. New in an organisation? Check to see if there are other IITPSA members working with you. Information to share? IITPSA Central Office will help you find a Special Interest Group or have a one-off event.
Media Distribution: Professional Members receive the Brainstorm Magazine from ITWeb, and other publications (as available), free. All members who wish to do so (i.e. upon application) receive the IWeek publication from ITWeb at no cost.
Product & Service Discounts: Members receive substantial product and / or service fee discounts from the numerous partners collaborating with the IITPSA – and reflected on the website under the “Membership Benefits” menu option.
Seminars and Workshops: These are offered in areas such as software testing, information security, business and systems analysis, enterprise architecture, project management, software and systems development and IT talent management.
Reduced Entrance Fees: Pay less for many ICT exhibitions, seminars, conferences and workshops. Typical discounts of 10% – 20% offer substantial savings. Special invitations to associated functions and events are issued.
e-Newsletter: A regular e-newsletter contains information about events, projects and activities in the various chapters and ICT generally.
Awards: Active involvement in the coveted IT Personality of the Year, Visionary CIO, Distinguished Service in ICT and IT Leading Employer Awards.
International Recognition: IITPSA membership grading and admission criteria are continuously evaluated in accordance with international practices and are maintained in line with these requirements.
Expert Opinions: Relationships with other international societies (e.g. IFIP) mean that IITPSA has access to best practices and top international experts.
Reciprocal Service Benefits: A reciprocal service benefits scheme exists between this Institute and the overseas societies listed below. If you are a current financial full fee paying member (not including Student members and others receiving a discount or free membership) of one of these societies, you are eligible for a 20% discount on the annual full membership fee of the IITPSA (the discount does not apply to the application fees). The discount only applies to the second / subsequent society(ies) joined; i.e. you pay the full fee to the first society you join, which then entitles you to a discount when you join a subsequent society and must be claimed when first joining the IITPSA. Evidence of your current financial status with your first society is required each year when renewing your subscription to claim this discount.
