How effective is your Test Automation Scripting? An IITPSA SIGiST Event

December 3, 2020 @ 16:30 - 17:30

Do you know for sure, that your automated test/script is testing what you think it’s testing? How many times have you been asked this question? It’s one of the main issues when it comes to test automation scripting. We find ourselves asking these questions: If there is no manual tester involved how would we know that your automated tests are testing what they are supposed to be testing? What if there is a bug in your code or your test tool? What if the test wasn’t implemented properly? What if the code is outdated due to the changes in the application and is no longer testing like it did before?

After 12 years of experience in software testing (Specifically Test Automation), Software Quality Engineer Connie Makhura has seen a great deal of test automation scripting, and more than few failures.

What do we do with these questions around the effectiveness of the test automation scripting? Which of the voices and the doomsayers do we believe? How do we determine that the test automation scripting is doing exactly what is supposed to be doing? What are the first steps that we need to take to embark on a successful test automation effectiveness journey?

Connie Makhura has extensive experience in Software Quality Engineering and has saved many test automation projects. Connie is an Automation Engineer leaning towards Scrum, DevOps and getting organisations to do things better. She was also a Code like a Girl instructor.

As a young girl Connie wanted to be a Chemical Engineer but growing up she discovered a passion for computers, and since then she has never looked back.
