“How to Throw the Book Away” (Delivering No Chance IT Projects) – 21 Nov 2018 – E Cape Chapter
November 21, 2018 @ 16:30 - 18:00
Hosted by the Eastern Cape Chapter of the IITPSA
Abstract
What do you do when you are handed a project that cannot be delivered using a standard approach?
Donald Southey worked for sixteen years as an IT project manager, and encountered his fair share of these problematic projects. This presentation — on how to cheat at project management — looks at three case studies; two successfully delivered, one much less so; and draws out the critical factors he sees as offering the best chance of success when the odds are stacked against you.
The Speaker – Donald Southey – IT Project Manager
Donald Southey trained as an engineer, but soon specialised in IT, ending his career as a project manager for Computacenter UK plc and then Fujitsu. He has delivered projects for customers in almost every sector of the economy, is a Chartered Engineer and EURING, and a long-time member of the IET and the British Computer Society. Now retired, with a wife and four married daughters, he is also a published novelist, former mime artist, and currently an international volunteer with Freedom Church.
