SIGiST Event – Wayne Mallinson Testing Wars Part 1

Abstract:
A short (20 minute) presentation on testing strategy that goes beyond current testing certification and current corporate testing practice is given.
A few well-known strategic approaches are discussed and then evaluated against actual testing organisational practices in the South African market.
Audience feedback from discussion group interaction is then heard (10 Minutes).
In the next 30 minutes a new way to assess testing skills in the industry is evaluated by a discussion of the results.
About the Presenter(s)
Wayne Mallinson
Wayne completed a B.Sc. Geology honours at Rhodes University in 1979, two years of National service in the SANDF School of Engineers and followed by five years of working as a mining geologist in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
During the next 26 years he has tested on mainly defence, telecoms and banking platforms;
Wayne has promoted software testing in South Africa and abroad, and started and sold a software testing company. He continues to pursue his testing interests in global testing company, iLAB Pty Ltd.
His software testing and IT quality interests include Lean IT production, organisational design, productive culture, and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of IT development and testing in large SA Corporates.
Wayne is married to Jenny, and has three children who are variously engaged in studies of theology, civil engineering and animal science.
His personal interests include gym, running, skiing, reading, travel, and creating relevant work skills for SA.
