Abstract:

Title: SharePoint Governance: Essential in complex, hybrid ECM environment, striking the balance
–
Outline the complexity of the hybrid CMS landscape within a large decentralized organisation with a consultative management approach, then provide an overview of how we have approached the building of a SharePoint governance plan within the bigger ECM governance framework to ensure integration and a measure of consistency.  By first assessing our organisation’s governance maturity we were able to gear the governance plan to the appropriate level while ensuring that it alleviates the pitfalls of SharePoint without governance.

Summary
–
Jenny Wood manages the Content Architecture team in the UCT IT department, her role also includes managing ECM projects, providing governance input, and co-chairing the Metadata Working Group (implementing the Metadata and Information Architecture policy with UCT Libraries).
–
As a graduate of UCT, she developed an early interest in finding ways to improve colleagues’ work lives through information management, structure, systems and training.
–
She is currently working on an MPhil in LIS. What little time she has left, she spends hiking, swinging kettlebells, gardening or socialising with friends and family.
