SIGiST Event: Systematic Innovation through a Keyhole – 22 June 2016
June 22, 2016 @ 05:30 - 19:30
–
Abstract
–
The who, what, where, how, why, and when of a fraction of systematic innovation is covered. Ideas, invention and innovation are defined. Ideas are cheap, especially when contrasted with the ultimate solution. Invention is important, but is not one’s birth right. This is good news. It means that you can learn how to invent now and benefit from it, rather than idly waiting for ‘got-it’, or worse still, lose hope. Inventing is one thing, innovating is another – attend to learn the important difference. The ultimate solution – “What is that?” “Can I have one?” Well, it turns out, “You can get very close”, and often, “The ultimate solution might not be the best!” The plot thickens.

About the Presenter(s): Wayne Mallinson
–
Wayne has variously worked in the mining, engineering, ICT, media, business, recruitment, defence, education and training, and research sectors. He has wide and active interests in the pure, natural, and social sciences, arts, technology, business, energy, the environment, and organisational behaviors and dynamics. In short he is a generalist who has some ability, in collaboration with others, to drill down to details and to apply joint experiences and knowledge to discover and action novel solutions. This wide to modest tapestry of involvements, understandings and know-hows, has providentially placed him in the spaces between siloed interests, industries, and disciplines at such a time as this.
