Andre Le Roux

Andre le Roux has a background in electronics, with 15 years of experience in that area. He branched out into ICT 21 years ago. Andre is passionate about technology and its strategic application to enable the achievement of business objectives through positive transformative change. He is equally passionate about ensuring that an organisation’s assets are protected, by mitigating its risk through the adoption of appropriate information and cybersecurity practices, processes and controls. His motto in this regard is awareness, intelligence sharing and collaboration.

 

He has a wealth of practical, managerial and strategic experience related to complex ICT infrastructure gained in the higher education sector, which he supplements through continuous professional development. He is currently taking a postgraduate diploma course leading to an MSc in Information Security through Royal Holloway University of London. His personal objective is to achieve a doctorate of science in Information Security.

 

Andre has presented at several conferences on cloud computing, eResearch and cybersecurity.  He is currently the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure Services at the University of Cape Town. He serves as the IITPSA Western Cape (WC) Chapter deputy chairperson, which he has done for the past three years, prior to which he served as the WC Chapter treasurer for three years.
