2023 – Ashleigh Mabaire (Graduate Software Engineer)

My name is Ashleigh and I am currently working as a graduate software engineer. I hold a Bsc Information Technology in Computer science and Informatics from the University of Johannesburg.

I was part of the UJenius club, and ranked in the top 10 for a majority of my majors. I’m also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. At the 2022 UJ Projects Day our team secured a position in the top 10 and our group website emerged victorious. During my final year I also had the opportunity to be a marking assistant for the computer science 2nd and 1st year modules. I am not only dedicated to personal growth but also to fostering the growth of others. I mentor a couple of students who are also studying IT and are aspiring to be IT professionals.

In the midst of this year, I found myself immersed in the development of my winning solution, an opportunity that unfolded under pressing deadlines. This experience proved to be an exhilarating rollercoaster ride, marked by the need to overcome various challenges and, in the end, deliver an innovative solution within the specified timeframe. This experience served as a powerful reminder of why I enjoy the tech space, given its dynamic nature and the limitless potential to create a positive impact through cutting-edge solutions.

Beyond academia, I’ve embraced the realm of social media, creating fun, educational, and relatable IT content on my platforms. My journey in Information Technology has been about growth, sharing knowledge and the continuous process of learning in the ever changing industry.
